Membership of the Society and the Classification of Members:
Patrons; Fellows; Members; Associate Members; Sustaining Members
A. Patrons:
A Patrons would be a learned person who has distinguished himself/herself in the practice or propagation of Yoga and whose association will be an honour and a source of inspiration to the Academy. Such patrons as were associated with the founding of the Academy shall be known as Founder Patrons.
B. Fellows:
A Fellow would be a Member of repute with distinctive academic contributions in the field of Yoga. His election will be based on the recommendations of the Credentials committee.
C. Members:
A Member would be a learned person, a scientist or a scholar who has established a place for himself/herself in his or her field and is personally interested in, as well as will work for promoting the objectives of the Academy. Such Members as were associated with the founding of the Academy shall be known as Founder members and will pay Rs. 2000/- as life membership fee.
D. Sustaining Members:
Associations/Institutions/Firms/Individuals who are interested in promoting the knowledge and practice of Yoga and who would like to support the Academy financially in fulfilling its aims and objectives will be enrolled as Sustaining members which will pay Rs. 5000/- as membership fee annually.
Termination of Membership
- A person who does not pay his annual subscription in a particular year and does not pay it even after reminders in the subsequent year cases to be a member of the Academy.
- The Executive Committee may terminate the membership of a person if the conduct of that person is unbecoming a member of the Academy or if he does anything. Which in the opinion of the Executive Committee is contrary to the ideals of the Academy
Meetings
- Ordinary or Special: Either of the Secretaries of the Academy will call for a Meeting of the Executive Committee periodically as and when required, with not less than a fortnight's notice in each case.
- Notice Period: Not less than a week notice.
- Quorum: The quorum for a meeting of Executive Committee shall be four and for General Body 1/4 of the total members.
- To fill up the vacant post: That will be filled from the General Body.
Powers and Duties of the Executive Committee
The Powers and Duties of the Executive Committee shall be as follows:
- To manage the affairs of the Academy and for this purpose to make such regulations as may appear to them conducive to the efficient administration of the Academy provided that these regulations are not inconsistent with anything contained herein and that they be reported to the next General Body Meeting.
- To direct and manage the publication of the journal and other publications of the Academy.
- To appoint auditor(s) for auditing the accounts of the Academy.
The President
The President shall preside at all meetings of the Academy, regulate its proceedings, and in case of doubt, his interpretation shall hold until the next meeting of the General Body.
In the absence of the President, his functions will be carried out by the Senior Vice-President.
Vice Presidents
The Vice-Presidents shall discharge such responsibilities as ma be delegated to them by the President and the Executive Committee of the Academy, from time to time.
Secretaries General
The Secretaries General shall conduct the correspondence of the Academy, record minute of the proceedings of the meetings, prepare the Annual Report etc. and supervise the work of the office Staff. The distribution of the work among the Secretaries may be mutual agreement subject to the general control of the Executive committee.
The Treasurer
The Treasurer shall receive and hold all money paid to the Academy, shall disburse all sums due from the Academy and shall keep exact accounts of all such receipts and payments.
The Editors
The Editors shall be responsible for the preparation and printing of the Journal and other publications of the Academy.
